Who We Support
The Support Through Housing Team (STHT) helps individuals in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo work towards stabilizing their housing and health. Individuals and families can access STHT support if they:
- Have barrier(s) to housing – limited financial resources, mental health issues, domestic violence, addictions, developmental disabilities, severe social/behavioural challenges, and/or legal complications
- Are committed to improving their lives, and setting and accomplishing goals
- Have connections with 1 or more community agencies, and follow up with referrals that will aid them in achieving appropriate housing
How We Support
How We Support
STHT was originally established, and continues to function as a “wraparound” service. 13 community agencies join together at a monthly Team meeting to conduct case conferencing on each STHT client.
Our Program Manager conducts intakes and meets weekly with both Outreach clients, and clients living at a supportive building called Centennial House.
Our Life Skills Facilitator provides additional supports to clients through life skills coaching. Depending on the clients needs and goals, the Life Skills Program can assist them with lessons in: household cleaning and maintenance; household budgeting; personal hygiene; time management; parenting skills; meal preparation (budgeting, nutritional information, shopping, safe food handling, cooking, and safe food storage); volunteerism, problem solving and decision making.
